Announcement:

The Bank of Thailand has started the Series 16 with the output of the 50 Baht banknote on 18th in January 2012.
The other denominations will to be spent as follows:

1. 20 Baht on 5th December 2012

2. 100 Baht - 2013

3. 500 Baht - 2013

4. 1000 baht - 2013

In addition, two other commemorative banknotes are planned this year:

1. One 100 Baht-commemorative banknote, to commemorate the 60th Birthday of Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn -
Front side is the same as the current 100 Baht of the series 15, the backside will be changed.

2. One 80 Baht-commemorative banknote to commemorate the 80th Birthday of Queen Sirikit - design is not known yet.
According to initial reports, the note will be sold for 200 Baht.

Announcement:

The 500 Baht [83.2] and the 1000 Baht [83.1] notes has been output in the old design, but with the new signature 83
(Thirachai Phuvanatnaranubala and Prasam Trairatvorakul).

The names of the signatures in 83.1 and 83.2 are not official, I named by myself,
to highlight the difference carefully. And I designated the 83.1, as such,
because the 100 baht commemorative banknote was the first that came out with the new signature and it just wears them.
The second note with the signature 83 was the new 50 baht banknote of series 16,
but bearing another version of signature 83, I named 83.2. .
It may be, that the 1000 baht banknote appears also with signature 83.2, as it is the case on the 20 baht banknote.
It may also be that the next 1,000 baht banknote receives with the signature 84, which came out in May.
In any case, you should keep your eyes open.

New Signature

The new Signature No.83 now on 20 and 100 Baht of the series 15. starting on 13.01.2012.
The 1000 baht banknote has now also announced.

Although the right signature, on the 100 baht banknote, at first glance looks very different,
it is both signatures "Sig. 83" ! It will then called the versions 83.1 and 83.2.

New Series Banknotes comming 18.01.2012

It's finally here! After more than 14 years, there is a new series, starting on 18.01.2012.
The series 16 begins with the publication of the 50 baht banknote with the signature 83rd.

With the new 500 baht banknote, now all the nominal series 15 have the Sig.82., except the 50 baht banknote.
Mr. Thirachai Phuvanatnaranubala since 08/09/2011 is the new Minister of Finance in Thailand,
replacing Mr. Korn Jatikawanit.
Consequently, soon to be expected with the new signature 83. The design, me is not known yet, but is filed later.
It is reported that the next 50 baht banknote, with the signature 83, will be the first of the series 16th.
